The Score Dispute Process engages inquires that are less than 3 month old (when comparing to the report date). Inquiries delete less than 10% of the time, they are very difficult to remove. We recommend that CRO’s understand this especially when giving consumers an audit/consultation, in order to set the right expectations.

Inquiries stay on the credit report for 24 months but affect the FICO Score for the first 12 months, from the date that the inquiry was made and recorded as such in the credit file.

It is very likely that by the time a consumer leaves or completes your program, the inquiry will probably not affect the consumer’s FICO Score. Either because the inquiry has reached Day 1 of the 13th month, or because the inquiry has been deleted. Either way if you let the consumer know that inquiries are very difficult to remove the appropriate expectation is set.
